Several studies indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as stress and anxiety, and enhance relaxation and sleep, muscle relaxation, aids in walking, increasing blood flow. Given that reflexology is also low risk, it can be a reasonable option if you’re seeking relaxation and stress relief. Plus, unlike other therapies which target the area of concern causing additional pain or discomfort, reflexology offers relief by working another part of the body

Reflexology is the application of pressure to areas on the feet (or the hands).

Reflexology is relaxing and may help alleviate stress.

The theory behind reflexology is that areas of the foot/hand correspond to organs and systems of the body. Pressure applied to the foot/hand is believed to bring relaxation and healing to the corresponding area of the body.

In reflexology theory, every organ, valve, muscle, etc. that lies within a zone can be accessed via a point or area on the feet or hands. For example, working between toes 2 and 3, or fingers 2 and 3, the eye point is found. These pathways between pressure points and other parts of the body are thought to be connected via the nervous system, as described above.

Deep relaxation can ease or eliminate stress, aches and pains that are often experienced in senior years

Reflexology is done with the client facing the practitioner, which provides seniors with the opportunity to talk about their situation, issues or just a human connection!

SELF CARE WHICH IS FORGOTTEN !

The nurturing touch provided in reflexology is appreciated by seniors who are apt not to be touched as much as persons in their younger ages.  Plus with less mobility a Reflexologist can help loosen those muscles and get them flowing again.  In your older years you tend to let go of those things that you were able to do in your youth days.  Reflexology gets you back into taking care of your heath and vibrancy!

How often should I get reflexology?

That’s partly a matter of personal preference. Many people start out with weekly sessions for a month or two. Then, they either stop having reflexology or transition to monthly “maintenance sessions” once they’ve already seen positive results. We can discuss what is best for you!
